Jakarta Receives the Most Enchanting Provincial Award

The Jakarta Provincial Government is concerned and committed to preserving arts and culture

The Jakarta received the award as the Most Enchanting Province at the 2019 Local Enchantment Festival (FPL), Tuesday (11/19) morning.

The award was directly handed by the Deputy Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Angela Tanoesoedibjo to the Jakarta Tourism and Culture Agency (Disparbud)'s Cultural Arts Division Head Gumilar Ekalaya.

Ekalaya said that this award spurred his agency to further improve the tourism sector, as well as the arts and culture in Jakarta, especially Betawi.

"The Jakarta Provincial Government is concerned and committed to preserving arts and culture. That is by giving attention and coaching to the community, cultural arts practitioners," he expressed.

It was also supported with a routine festival throughout the year in a bid to provide a stage for art and culture practitioners, as well as being an educational entertainment for Jakartans.

"In 2020, there will be a separation of the Desparbud, so we will certainly be more focused on conducting coaching from the elements of arts and culture, as well as working on the destinations and potential of the tourism market," he explained.

He asserted the city would continue to prioritize collaboration with communities and arts and cultural institutions in Jakarta.

This was surely in line with the concept of City 4.0 where the government as a collaborator and the community as a co-creator.

Aside that, Jakarta could also be proud, as it has a variety of attractive tourist destinations, not only iconic but also represents Betawi culture.

"In terms of cultural arts, we have communities and institutions, there are LKB to Bamus Betawi. We have Taman Benjamin Sueb, Setu Babakan, this is actually in accordance with the governor's mission to promote collaboration," he told.

He assessed that the new face of Jakarta, especially in terms of transportation was an added value that make Jakarta a charming province.

"Related to the changes that have been made from transportation side, we have MRT, LRT and Jak Lingko. Maybe this makes Jakarta more charming," he stated.
